The highlight of my weekend

I spent most of Friday and all of Saturday completely incapacitated--quite sick with a high fever, cough and sore throat. It wasn't fun.

When I woke up on Sunday, I thought I was over the hump and feeling better. That is, until I managed to actually sit up. Then the headache, sore throat and fever came rushing back.

Finally today I felt about 90%. I have spent the day working (to make up for stuff I couldn't get done on Friday) and relaxing a bit--catching up on some boob tube.

And the highlight of my weekend? Was this:

LOVE pineapple. Really, I just can't get enough. In fact, we were reading the tag on this feller which provided extensive detail about the pineapple farm/resort in Maui where this 'lil guy was grown. I can just imagine staying there and eating my weight in pineapple each and every day...dare to dream...

Well, it's time to mentally prep to go straight into the steaming, putrid bowels of hell. Or work. Whatever the kids are calling it these days.

Hoping to take some time this week to finish up that pink cabled baby sweater...wish me luck!

Oh my Papa...

My dad is here in town for an interview and a last-minute visit. We spent Saturday tooling around downtown, riding cable cars and hitting the tourist spots.

Pic from the Apple store.

Ridin' the cable cars

No knitting news...no time to knit :-( Looking forward to a long weekend of knitting and chillin'.

P is for poison

So I'm finally feeling like a bit 'o knitting after recovering from a bout of hives. Yesterday when I got to work I noticed that my face felt a little itchy. I didn't think too much of it since it is allergy season. But, by mid afternoon I was ready to tear my face off. I ended up with hives all over my face, neck, etc.

The craziest part was that I couldn't figure out what the culprit was. My co-workers and I were convinced that it must have been the muffin I had for breakfast since it contained dried fruit (I am allergic to sulfites). That, or I was finally outwardly manifesting a deep inner allergy to corporate work.

Turns out that some frozen fish G and I had eaten for dinner the night before, had been marinated in trace amounts of mango. That'll do it. *Sigh.* It's exhausting being allergic to lots of stuff. Not to mention that I look like I'm thirteen years old since my hives like to appear as a complete face full of mini-zits. Joy!

And, I've got a week stacked with corporate executive-laden meetings. As if they didn't already think I was young...now this...

On the bright side, I at least feel like knitting again. Still working on that pink cabled baby sweater. Not really working on the giant cabled sweatercoat--it's been far too warm outside. No worries, though. I'm sure that soon enough we'll be fogged in for the summer and a sweatercoat will once again seem like a good idea.

So lazy and surly...

A lovely day for a walk

Yep, that's what today was. About as good as it gets in San Francisco...sunny, windy, a bit cold--the perfect day for a stroll through Golden Gate park to Ocean Beach.

Not only were these flowers pretty, but the petals were extremely stiff and sharp as a cactus. Thank you, Griffin, for your plant poking prowess.

An unopened bloom of the same pokey variety.

Almost to Ocean Beach

Path to the beach.

Time for a catnap.

New template design!

Yes, I am a professional art director, although you would never know it from the sorry state of my blog. Today, I am embarking on a new mission...to create a fully customized and branded Ms. Crafty experience, which equates to pink, pink, pink!

This is really quite the perilous path to venture down, since I could probaby futz with this blog template/design forever...

Oh, well. Time to stop the dinking around and time to start knitting the weekend away. Huzzah.

The Mistake

Well, I've been doing lots and lots 'o mindless activities (mainly some napping and good ol' fashioned TV watching) so that I don't have to really think about my job...which stinks. It takes every ounce of strength I have to make it through each and every day. The downside is that this leaves precious little energy to knit--especially on a not-so-mindless-to-knit cable coat.

I've been working on it this weekend a bit.

I've completed a whopping 12", approximately 1 million inches of cabling remain.

Last night I noticed a rather gaping mistake that I made a couple of cables back...and I have to confess that although it is driving me crazy I just do NOT want to rip it out. So, I'll have to learn to live with it.

At least it will be near a seam...maybe then I won't really notice...

Ferris Bueller, you're my hero

No, wait. Amend that. Stephen Colbert, you're my hero. Seriously.

Shame on you, members of the press, who are far too timid to criticize a failing administration. I hope that while you watched the "roast" you each felt a modicum of shame that a comedian was doing a job that by all accounts should be yours. Or at least I hope that explains why you couldn't be bothered to laugh--you were far too afraid that you were going to lose your jobs to a comedian. And maybe you should.

And now for a moment of Zen.
