Mmmmm....yarn cake

This is a sumptuous cake made of hand dyed bamboo yarn--almost as soft as silk (once it has been soaked). It is a pleasure to work with. Nothing beats the blah, cold, foggy day blues like some amazing blue yarn...

A purring fur ball in the lap doesn't hurt either...

What are you making with it? I really want some but can only afford one skein right now. Ideas?

I am making a similar scarf to the store sample which was made with one skein...simple pattern...

I'll post pics tomorrow so you can see how it's shaping up :-)

Soaking? Would love to hear more about making bamboo softer. Thanks!

I think it depends on the yarn itself, but in general soaking is supposed to help the fibers release and become softer.

I haven't blocked my scarves (I just finished a second) yet, but the blocked sample at the store is almost as soft as silk.

I'll let you know!
