Cute As a Button

Well, I finally got around to sewing the buttons on the world's cutest baby sweater.


Turns out the buttons are supercute as well.

Matching booties rule.

Still nonstop baby knitting here. I'm sorry all you knit-nighters, but I won't be able to attend our regular Thursday knit night for the next two weeks. Friday (2 days from now!!!) we'll be driving 30 hours straight to Minnesota, and will be flying back the following Friday. I'll be working remotely next week, and probably won't have too much time to blog. :-(

Paper Fish

As seen on a walk on 24th Street in Noe Valley. The details were exquisite (The fish is approximately two feet wide). Is there some sort of profession in which one makes supercool displays out of paper? If so, sign me up, or at least get me on the waiting list!

Superdrive my A**

The "superdrive" of my imac G5 decided to stop working last night. First, it ate a DVD, and now it won't stop trying to ingest and eject things simultaneously. No, it's not under warranty, and yes I did momentarily consider that a computer sans disk tray could be a risk...it was a risk I was willing to take for something pretty and shiny...

We're hoping Griffin can just disconnect the drive from it's power source so it will shut the hell up! Keep your fingers crossed...cause I just can't work with all of that clackety racket.

Pink Baby Newsboy Cap

All done. Kyle's cap from "Knit Baby Head & Toes" (yes, the title of the book is a little off-putting--I think perhaps there's a missing preposition)...but the patterns are highly adorable--it's worth the baby newsboy cap alone.

Now I just need to whip up some matching booties.

Bamboo Scarf the Second

This scarf has one fewer pattern repeat than the blue, thus making it a bit longer than its counterpart.

Love the colors!

Also, blocking some baby cuteness right now! Pictures TBD.

I have yet to find the time or willpower to block the bamboo. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can manage to TCB this weekend.

[Side note:I won't be able to make knit night this week, so ladies and warren, have tons of fun for me and knit up a storm!]

Just in case you didn't know...

So...many...babies...so...little...time...

I have a summer full of baby knitting ahead of me. I'm trying to break up the baby knitting with some simple scarves. (Yes, world, we actually still need scarves in San Francisco in the summer--it's cold here!)

So far, I have one complete baby set (hat, sweater, booties).

To be completed:
* another baby sweater, hat, bootie set
* a hat and bootie set
* another hat and bootie set

Is anyone else I know out there having babies? Please tell me now so I can get you on the list.

F.O. - Palooza

Lots 'o FO (finished object) eye candy today.

This entire set was knit up using Crystal Palace Bunny Hop--loved it! The variegated green is my favorite color, but I also scored some variegated blue, variegated purple, and solid buttery yellow for more baby items (for other babies) to come!

Most of the scarf. The edge was hanging off of the other end of my coffee table. The length seems perfect for spring/summer as it will wrap around once.

I have a few more of these to make as well.

Now, what to make next...I do need to make another sweater for a baby being born in Sept. Do I get ahead (smart) or, do I procrastinate and work up something else in bamboo...

1 Skein Wonder

A simple, diagonal scarf in the baby blue bamboo from a store pattern at Marin Fiber Arts. I modified the pattern slightly (by casting on 5 fewer sts) to hopefully gain a little length.

Also, I modified the edging as I didn't want to risk any edge curling. (Side note: I knit this scarf using Lorna's laces and the edges curled all over the place.) That said, it could be completely unnecessary, since this yarn is quite drapey.

I love how it's turning out, and it's a joy to be working on something simple for a change.

Mmmmm....yarn cake

This is a sumptuous cake made of hand dyed bamboo yarn--almost as soft as silk (once it has been soaked). It is a pleasure to work with. Nothing beats the blah, cold, foggy day blues like some amazing blue yarn...

A purring fur ball in the lap doesn't hurt either...
